How to Measure for Hockey Shoulder Pads
Proper shoulder pad fit is essential for upper body protection and freedom of movement on the ice. Follow these steps to find your perfect size:
Chest Measurement
Measure circumference around the widest part of your chest.
Fit Guidelines
- Shoulder cap coverage: Caps should sit directly on top of your shoulders without hanging over
- Chest protection: Front and back plates should cover your chest and upper back without restricting breathing
- Bicep coverage: Bicep guards should overlap with elbow pads by 1-2 inches with no gaps
- Collar fit: Collar should protect your collarbone and base of neck without being too tight
- Mobility test: Raise your arms overhead and move through skating motions - pads shouldn't shift or ride up
- Spine protection: Back plate should extend down to cover upper spine
