How to Measure for Hockey Shin Pads
Proper shin pad fit is critical for leg protection and skating performance. Follow these steps to find your perfect size:
Shin Length
Measure from center of kneecap to center of outer ankle.
Fit Guidelines
- Knee cap coverage: The knee cap should sit directly over your kneecap without shifting
- Length coverage: Shin pads should extend from just below your kneecap to the top of your skate tongue
- No gaps: When wearing hockey pants, there should be 1-2 inches of overlap with no exposed skin
- Calf wrap: The calf protector should wrap around your leg comfortably without pinching
- Mobility test: Bend and straighten your leg - pads should stay in place and not restrict movement
- Strap security: Straps should hold pads firmly without cutting off circulation
